LOCATION
Location Highlights
Bella Vista Napier Motel is situated in a central CBD location, four minutes' walk from town. Marine Parade fronts onto a sweeping stretch of the Pacific Ocean from which we are located only a matter of metres; the beach walks and nearby restaurants and attractions give the city a real holiday resort atmosphere. For conferences and special events, the Napier RSA is right across the road. The War Memorial Conference Centre is a pleasant three quarters of a kilometre stroll along the seaside walkway. The Municipal Theatre is also sometimes used as a conference facility and Bella Vista Motel is an easy walk from this venue too. For sports events, we are less than one kilometre from McLean and Nelson parks, and at the end of the activities freshen up at your motel which is within 300 metres of watering holes and eateries for all tastes, while a half kilometre will get the "culturally minded" to the Napier Municipal Theatre. Look out your window during Art Deco week and you will be convinced you have been transported to the 1930s, such is the number of passers-by in period costume and vintage cars. We are right in the midst of it all!

OUR STORY
Introducing your hosts, Jimmy & Wendy
Jimmy and Wendy have owned and operated Bella Vista Napier since September 2018. They both arrived in New Zealand from China in the early 2000s, studying in Auckland for 6 years, before moving to Napier. Loving the wonderful Hawkes Bay lifestyle, they settled in Napier, become New Zealand residents, married and are proud parents of four wonderful children.
In 2012 they purchased a local dairy called Arkwights Corner Store, coincidentally just down the road from the motel on Hastings Street. In operating the dairy Jimmy and Wendy were able to become part of the local community and after six years of hard work and saving, they moved their family two blocks down the road to Bella Vista.
Napier, Hawkes Bay - Your Destination
Napier is located in the East Coast of the North Island, bordering the Pacific Ocean. With the city being situated on the coastline, Napier is the perfect place to visit.Best known today for its Art Deco architecture and magnificent wines, Napier and the Hawke's Bay region are also rich in Maori culture. Newly developed cycling trails are proving to be an increasingly popular attraction and activity.
Pre-European history of this region dates back to the 12th century when the scared waka (canoe) Takitimu arrived. On board was the high priest, Ruawharo who settled overlooking Mahia Beach north of Napier.
In 1769 Captain James Cook and the crew of the HMS Endeavour were probably the first Europeans to set eyes on the East Coast. Cook named the bay after the lord of the admiralty. Traders, whalers and missionaries began moving into the province early in the 1800s. Napier was established in the 1850s, and was named for a British soldier who fought in India. Many streets carry names associated with the colonial era of the British Indian Empire. Others take their names from famous artists and literary figures.
Napier has many things to offer visitors, like vineyards, scenic beach walks and its beautiful architectures. One of the highlights of visiting Napier is the marine parade, a picturesque waterfront promenade that offers breathtaking views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Learning about Napier’s beautiful architecture teaches you about the Māori history. With Napier being located on the territory of Ngati Kahungunu, the famous Pania of the Reef statue can be found, along Marine Parade. This statue from Ngati Kahungunu mythology is one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the country.
Whether its art, food, the outdoors or wine, Napier provides them all for a relaxing experience. Napier offers visitors a one kind of experience3, it’s a place where history and beauty come together.
